Zanjoe says reel- and real-life romance with Mariel not a problem in 'Varga'

Actor-model Zanjoe Marudo said his real-life romance with actress and TV host Mariel Rodriguez is not an obstacle to their having a good working relationship in ABS-CBN’s upcoming television series titled “Varga.”

Rodriguez plays the eponymous role of the alien superheroine while Marudo plays her Earthly leading man.

Marudo told abs-cbnNEWS.com that he and Rodriguez are professionals--they are even able to put their personal problems behind them while working together.

“Ako na din iyong nagsabi, nagpaliwanag na kapag trabaho, trabaho talaga iba,” Marudo explains.

Marudo also praised Rodriguez saying that the actress really knows how to love her job.

“Lalo na itong Varga mararamdaman mo na gustong gusto niya ang ginagawa niya, alam naman natin na napaka-arte ng tao pero ito tinitiiis niya talaga kahit na mainit o nasa pangit na lugar ay tinitiis niya lahat at binibigay niya lahat at makikita na kapag pinalabas na,” he said.

The hunk actor in an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com said that his relationship now with Rodriguez is all right, although sometimes their work schedules prevent them from spending time together.

“Minsan lang hindi kami nagkikita. Dahil iyon nagte-taping ako ng ‘Dyosa, nagte-taping siya ng ‘Varga’; nagwo-‘Wowowee pa’ siya minsan, so sa ‘Varga’ magkakasama kami,” he said.

To keep their affair stronger they make sure that they are in constant communication. That's why they are always calling each other, especially now that he is leaving for the US.

“Lagi kaming nag-uusap at lagi kaming nagtatawagan,” he said. mMarudo is set to fly in US this coming Wednesday, July 30 and will be back on August 13 for the Coverboys’ shows.

He also shared that this will be his first US trip that’s why he is really excited. The actor is also set to be seen on the sineserye "Florinda" with Maricel Soriano.

Marudo gained popularity when he joined Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 1 in 2006.

"Varga" will have its premiere telecast on August 2, Saturday, after the final episode of "Kapitan Boom!"
